Awesome, Hands-On Ways to Get Your Community to Go Green
Buying products with sustainable packaging? Great.
Spending time with your kids cleaning up your local park? Fantastic!
Inspiring your community to be more eco-conscious and get involved? BEST.
Doing what we can to make an impact as individuals is great, but real, substantive change can only happen when entire communities actively decide to become environmentally positive places to live.
But motivating others to be active, positive members of their communities can be tricky.

1) Generation Green: How Millennials Are Saving the Environment
We’ve heard a lot from Boomers and Gen-X’ers about how Millennials are killing everything they love.
- Fast food
- Big box stores
- Fossil fuels
The list goes on, and we’re pretty sure we’re okay with all of those things kicking the bucket.
According to recent reports, Millennials are saving the environment by supporting green companies, choosing to work at companies that have a positive environmental impact, and spearheading green movements in their community.
2) 3 Ways to Create an Eco-Friendly Workspace
Offices can feel pretty lifeless with all of their harsh overhead lights, hard concrete tiles floors, and fake plastic plants.
Most office buildings aren’t doing any favors for the environment, either. Large office buildings require an exponential amount of power to cool and heat, and the majority aren’t using green energy sources.
Luckily, there are small changes you can make at your office that can have a significant impact on our planet.
By investing in (real) indoor plants, embracing natural lighting, and implementing the use of air filters, you can help your office do an eco-180 and start making a positive impact.
3) Taking the Party Outside: 5 Ideas for a Fun Outdoor Fete
When things start getting cold outside, we tend to curl up in a ball underneath a blanket on the couch. But just because it’s sweater weather, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s time to pack away the lawn furniture.
By creating a fun outdoor space, you’ll get more use out of your patio/backyard/front porch because you’ll actually want to spend some time there.
So string up some lights, get some outdoor speakers, and invest in some heavy wool blankets to bring outside with the marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers.
You’ll be glad you did.
4) ThreeMain Cleans Up: Our Carson Beach Plastic Removal Project
Sometimes, you have to put your plastic where your recycle bin is.
That’s why we got together with some of our friends at the Rozalia Project to help clean up a local beach near our offices.
Together, we were able to remove more than 50 lbs of plastic from the beach.
You can find out more about our Carson Beach cleanup project here and get some inspiration for your own community plastic clean up!
You don’t need George Bailey’s work ethic to have a cleaner, greener, eco-positive community.
By bringing a new planet into your office, taking advantage of and pride in your outdoor spaces all year long, or spending some time with your kids cleaning up the local park for an afternoon, you can create an eco-positive community wherever you are.
